The Student Exchange Program

Hungary
Students in Grades 7 and 8 visited Arpad Gymnasium in Tatabanya, Hungary in the fall of 2008. The Hungarian students will visit in the spring of 2009. Arpad is part of the "Circle of Schools" that visited Nativity for The Friendship Project in September 2006. Read about their trip to Hungary. >>>>

The Global Village
One of the best ways to prepare students to participate in the global community
is to provide them with the experience of learning about and getting to know students from around the world. Since 1980 Nativity has worked with schools in 17 different countries to provide that global experience for our students.

Visiting students come prepared to visit each classroom to share their nation’s culture and history with our students through age-appropriate activities. While in Cincinnati they live with Nativity families and attend classes at Nativity to experience American family and school life. Their visit always includes trips to local points of interest. The same thing happens when our students travel to another country. The exchange program is funded by families who choose to participate either as a host family or one who sends their son/daughter abroad.

The exchange program at Nativity is one of the reasons this is A Great Place to Be. What better way to learn about the world than by meeting students in class and on the playground; what better way to build friendships that can last a lifetime.

Mr. Johnson, Mr. Herring

Through International School-to-School Experience (ISSE) we have worked with schools in India, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Bermuda and Jamaica. (isseonline.org). We were partnered with schools in Cannes and Paris through The Association for French American Classes.

Working with the Cincinnati-Kharkiv Sister Cities Project we exchanged delegations with English Specialist School #3 in Ukraine and the Cincinnati-Liuzhou Sister Cities Project to partner with Long Cheng Middle School in China.

Our Memorandum of Understanding with Torkinmaki School calls for an exchange of students, teachers and students' art work.

To see the Nativity kids, go to the Torkinmaki site Torkinmaki and Nativity.

Mr. Herring and Mr. Johnson made a presentation on student exchange programs in the elementary school at the Meeting of the International Confederation of Principals in Scotland. (icponline.org) To read what they had to say and to learn more about this unique partnership, click here.
