MUSIC TOGETHER® classes present playful, musical activities that respect and support the unique learning styles of very young children. Infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their parents/caregivers participate at their own levels in family-style classes of mixed ages.

MUSIC TOGETHER® is based on the premise that all children are musical and have the same innate ability to learn music as language. Our goal is to nurture the child’s natural enthusiasm for music and movement. We sing, dance, chant and play instruments in an informal setting that will enrich their musical environment and guide them towards basic music competence and ultimately towards a lifetime of musical enjoyment. This is a non-performance oriented program that seeks to assist children in developing basic music competency during the critical learning period of early childhood.

GREAT THINGS ABOUT MUSIC TOGETHER®

Informal Instruction: Children may or may not participate as they choose and do so according to their developmental level. The class experience, reinforced by listening to CD's and parental involvement, stimulates learning at home through play.

Mixed Ages: Educators have long considered mixed age groupings to be beneficial. The Music Together program is designed with this in mind. Activities focus on adult/child interaction rather than child/child interaction, so children of different ages (siblings, for example) can enjoy classes together.

Infants: A child’s music development benefits greatly from early exposure as an infant. (Children who are 9 months or younger attend free with a registered sibling.

Location: Nativity Church,
Ridge & Woodford Rds. Classes in the Parish Center’s Toddler Room.
Class size: 6 to 12 children (birth through age 4) with parent or caregiver.
Instructor: Sr. Mary Joan Schimian, SMR, MT-BC. Sr. Mary Joan is a qualified registered Music Together® teacher and a board-certified Music Therapist.
Fees: $120 (1st child) $80 (each additional child) Siblings under 9 months are free.

Tuition Assistance available Tuition includes the following: 45-minute classes for 10 weeks.
Two professionally recorded CD’s of the class activities (songs, rhythm chants, "play along" music, tonal and rhythm patterns). A beautifully illustrated songbook A book, "Music and Your Child: A Guide for Parents and Caregivers," for families new to Music Together.®
